Top 5 Kanye Samples..

Wale..

Yo'... I've been a Wale fan for a minute now, probably ever since "Nike Boots", but in the past couple of months Wale has taken his game to another level. I don't know if the signing with Ross and Maybach Music Group did that for him, but dude has released nothing but fire lately. From his latest mixtape More About Nothing, to his cuts on the Self-Made LP, Wale is establishing himself as someone to look out for in the near future. Although he's been in the game for a minute now, I feel like his path could be similar to the way Curren$y blew up. Just keeping a consistent following and building a buzz until his time comes....or maybe his time is now?

Respect a Legend...

The Blueprint...

While I was slowly studying my life away for finals, I decided to listen to one of my favorite albums ever, The Blueprint. I remember listening to this in 2001 when it first came out and being amazed as a 4th grader, but now with an older perspective I realize why Jay has carried the game for the past 10 years. Other than Eminem I don't think there is another rapper who can compare, although I love Lil' Wayne, his albums don't compare to Hov's at all. Jay has 13 cuts that are all classics in my opinion. The fact that he decided to use a majority of soul samples, just brought back a nostalgic perspective that I hadn't experienced since Biggie's Ready To Die. Another thing that amazes me about The Blueprint is the fact that it was released on September 11, 2001, and it still managed to go platinum, that alone shows the quality of his work. Jay-Z whether you like him or not, is one of the greatest to ever do it.

A 'Lil Something For The Soul..

True Blues..

These joints are going to be a PROBLEM, I cant express that enough. I believe the last time the "True Blues" were released was in 2001 and it set the streets on fire then, but now it seems as if the 2011 versions have lost their luster. I may be wrong, but I haven't heard a buzz about these the same way I did about the Cool Grey's. If you're a true sneaker fan you understand the magnitude of these sneakers, while they may not be the Cement 4's or the Black and Cement 3's, these are a great purchase in my opinion. A classic shoe that can never get old..

The Future of Hip-Hop..

Cole World...
Update: The more and more I listen to J.Cole, the more and more I get excited for the future of Hip-Hop. Although he may be just one particular artist that intrigues me at this moment, I feel as though he can carry the genre to new heights. However, there has been plenty of artist before him that has generated that same type of buzz. J.Cole can either be Raekwon, and have incredible buzz and popularity, but fail to deliver a quality album or he can be Nas, and relase a classic debut LP and be regarded as one of the greatest. Only time will tell with J.Cole, but I'm willing to bet that he will be just fine and will eventually go down as one of the greatest to ever do it. Although this may seem a little pretentious at the moment, I feel as though any artist that stands out amongst his peers as much as J.Cole does, must have some type of legendary quality to them.

The Laker Fan..

Before this series I heard the different rumors about Laker fans and how they acted but i didn't realize how bad they were until this series. Although a lot of Laker fas are true fans, a majority of them are bandwagoners with no sense of loyalty to anything. They talk the most shit, but fail to appear whenever their team loses. That's cowardly to me. Most of these "groupie" fans can't tell you anything about the Lakers glorious history or even their famous triangle offense. It's tough having an argument with Laker fans because most sound ignorant and can't give credit where credit is due. Let's face it, the Lakers didn't respect the Mavs and that's why they ended up getting swept. Although the Mavs are a great team, being a Mavs fan my whole life I understand that beating L.A. isn't something that comes easy to them. At the end of the day, no matter where the Mavs end up, i'll know I'm rooting for the hometown team and a team that I've loved since the age of 2. Only time will tell what happens next for the Mavs, but I'm ready to enjoy the next series. By the way, Shout out to all of the TRUE LAKER FANS, y'all are great for the league.

3-0..

Seeing the Mavericks up 3-0 against the two-time defending champion Lakers is very surreal. Like seriously. If you're a Mavericks fan you would understand this feeling. The Mavs are perennial season champions and playoff losers. Whether it's '06 or '07, rooting for my Mavs has been tough on my heart and on my "shit talking" abilities. However this year is different, very different. The Mavs seem to have heart this year, something they have seem to be lacking since Nick Van Exel left in 2003. Only time will tell what Mavs can do with this 3-0 lead, hopefully they can finish off the Lakers and the next series and then bring a title back to Dallas. Something we've been missing since 2000 when the Stars won the Stanley Cup. C'mon Dallas!

The Documentary

I swear I've been listening to this album all week long. I remember copping this from Sam Goody when I was in the seventh grade and not being able to put it down since. Game has so much potential to be one of the best MC's in the game, no pun intended, but Game's biggest problem is himself. It seems that he can't just put out classic album after classic album without any complications. From top to bottom this LP is fire, it's the type of CD you just cruise and listen too. It seems to never get old either, but i guess great music is timeless.

Summer Sneaker Circuit..

 Wolf Grey 5's
 Cardinal 7's
 True Blue 3's
Balck and Red Jordan 5's
Some definite must own sneakers this summer... (I plan on purchasing all of these by the way)

MVP..

Seeing Derrick Rose when the 2010-2011 NBA MVP award is probably the best thing to happen to the league in a very long time. In a society where it seems as If players put themselves before the team, Rose doesn't follow that trend at all. D.Rose gives hope to a league that has been dominated by 4 teams(Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, and Spurs) over the last decade. As we witness his career unfold right before our eyes, he is changing the landscape of the position. No other point guard has been able to run as fast as Allen Iverson. See the floor as well as Jason Kidd. Have the same, if not more athleticism than Michael Jordan, while also having the burning desire to get better.
The fact that this is only his third-year in the league and he already has one MVP under his belt is mind-blowing. For Bulls fans, MJ is a thing of the past, as of right now it's Derrick Rose's turn and maybe Chicago has a new superstar to look towards bringing home a title..
